Need:
A system that would pinpoint the identity and location of every imported unit from the time it was unloaded form the container ship in Australia to the time it entered a retailer’s showroom, eliminating shrinkage and delivery errors and facilitating stock taking across a national distribution network.
Deployment:
Small ultra long range RFID tags are attached inside vehicles as soon as the vehicles arrive at the holding park closest to the disembarkation point. This enables each car to be tracked throughout the distribution network by its unique tag number. All permanent storage yards are fitted with network connected RFID receivers that track which cars enter and leave the yards.
At temporary yards Protrac iD portable receivers records all stock movements and updates the system via an available communication link.
When vehicles are moved form the yard by transporter, vehicle tags are fitted to the prime movers and their trailers and the system automatically allocates the stock items to the transporter hauling them. Cars leaving on an unauthorized transporter trigger an alarm.
For captive fleets with on board fleet management computers, a Protrac iD receiver in each prime mover keeps the system up to date with what cars are loaded and unloaded, where and when, in real time, 24/7. Unauthorized stock movements are instantly identified.
For cars driven in and out of yards and depots the system automatically identifies the driver who wears a Protrac iD 3-in-1 personnel card. Alarms are triggered if the driver is unauthorized. In unmanned depots, a correct match is required before the gates are opened.
As a bonus, stock takes are fully automated. Personnel carrying a portable receiver simply walk around the yard and the receiver stores the tag numbers of all the cars on the site. When the receiver is plugged into the recharging rack, all data is uploaded to the software.
